Waiting

This was the only official self-portrait (or self inspired) work I have so far. Sure, I don't own gorgeous boots like that she's a loooot thinner than me but I'm still training when it comes to realistic body types and everything else is accurate to a T.

Anyway, this was a day back in September 2010 when I left class and was waiting for my mother to pick me up as she promised. Normally I would walk or take the bus but I had no money for the bus and had stayed up all night finishing a paper so I was too exhausted to walk home. My mother promised to be there...but wasn't. I called and called and she said she would be there soon...And hour later she said she was almost done...I waited, listening to music, sitting on the graffiti marked wall of outside of the train station leaning against the old electric maintenance box with my bag behind me trying to at least relax and rest a bit as I waited, I almost dozed off and slept but the noise of the cars, trains, buses and people made it impossible.
Eventually I texted my mother again and again and when she finally replied she said "I will be there in 15 minutes." She wasn't.

In the ended I waited from 1.30pm to 6.30 pm and then I gave up and started walking, it was just 2km anyway and I figured she was obviously not going to show up but as I walked she finally showed up and rather than taking me home, took me shopping for groceries then home and I had to be the one cooking dinner for 6.

Yes, it sounds like a wonderful day, doesn't it?
But all in all it wasn't so bad since it inspired this little drawing.

Used miscellaneous watercolour pencils, 0.5mm black gel pen and photoshop just for the grass and fence (and a little blur on the graffiti).
